My name is Matan Lev, and I have been deeply connected to the world of art since childhood, finding profound joy in the act of painting.
Throughout my formative years, I encountered a series of challenges within the educational system, and it was within the canvas that I discovered my sanctuary—a space where I could escape the chaos of life. Through my art, I have been able to articulate the spectrum of my emotions, from joy and wonder to struggle and yearning for acceptance.
In reflecting on my journey, I realize that, at my core, I was simply “a child who wants to draw,” unburdened by the painful labels imposed by the adult world. The essence of that child still resides within me, fueling my passion for creation and artistic expression. Over the years, I have sought to deepen my understanding of art, immersing myself in observation and learning from remarkable mentors who have shaped my artistic vision.
I take great joy in the process of exploration, experimentation, and creation. I invite you to wander through my works, to read their stories, to engage with the emotions they invoke, and perhaps to experience them from my perspective—one shaped by a life devoted to artistic inquiry. Whether you are drawn to a piece for yourself or to gift it to someone special, I am grateful for your presence and your engagement with my art.
Thank you for joining me on this artistic journey.

Transient onions
$1750
Oil on linen canvas attached to wood
28.5×19
I created this painting of an onion driven by curiosity and a desire to explore its multifaceted nature. The onion reveals a duality of texture: a velvety softness juxtaposed with a crusty hardness. It evokes a profound contrast between its tear-inducing pungency and its unexpectedly sweet flavor. In capturing such complexity, I sought to uncover the rich tonal and formal qualities inherent in this humble yet expressive element..

“Like the glass in this painting, there are those who can see beyond what meets the eye. While the glass appears empty, its reflection reveals the hidden wine. This section of my website is dedicated entirely to hostages and their families.
Since October 7, 2023, innocent civilians and soldiers have been abducted from their homes in Israel, transported into unimaginable suffering. These individuals have fallen victim to inhumane terrorists, and unfortunately, the State of Israel has not yet managed to secure the return of all those taken. The group of abductees includes the elderly, adults, and children—terror has spared no one.
In response to this grave situation, the families of the hostages have established a headquarters focused primarily on facilitating their swift return. They are also committed to raising awareness and executing a variety of initiatives to support their loved ones during this crisis.
The artworks displayed on this site are original creations, crafted using traditional techniques reminiscent of past masters, from the careful preparation of the substrates to the meticulous painting methods employed.
This website is a personal initiative, entirely self-funded and not affiliated with any organization or external entity. It is driven by a heartfelt desire to advocate for the hostages and their families.
A portion of the site’s revenue will be donated directly to the headquarters of the families of the hostages, providing essential support for their efforts and our collective mission.
